Abstract
In Ghazzali's view, natural sciences are inconsistent with religious
doctrines in two main issues:
1. Causation: to accept causation, we should admit causation connection
and the effectiveness of phenomena. Ghazzali believes that this view is not
con consistent with God's generality of power and the prophets' miracles. He
recognizes the solution in acceptance of Asharyya theory of custom and
rejection of causation between phenomena.
2. Self: self issue is one of the main issues in natural wisdom. Ghazzali,
among self issues, discusses issues like immateriality, immortality and nature
of continuance of self after death. He argues that philosophers' view in this
regard is against bodily resurrection.
In this essay, first we discuss about Ghazzali's view on science, scientists
and philosophers' sciences, and then explain Ghazzali's view on the
inconsistent natural sciences issues with religious doctrines.
