A movement that, if continued and placed on the right path, could be effective in moderating and correcting the prevailing reductionist approaches and help to repair and strengthen various fields of study of religion. However, this endeavor, stemming from its roots in Christianity and modern West, took a course that was at odds with its original purposes. Rather than distinguishing it from similar categories and emphasizing the aspects of distinction, it promoted the de-identification of religions. Continuing this trend not only deprives objectivity from studies of religion, but also disregards the significant distinctions among religions, leading to the weakening and eventual extinction of the knowledge that it has fed on and from which it has gained its credibility. Another consequence of persisting in this trend is a change in purposes, moving from a position of <em>understanding religion</em> to a kind of <em>constructing religion</em>. <span lang="FA">گوهرشناسی دین را می‌توان یکی از گام‌های لازم و مفید در راستای موضوع‌شناسی قلمداد کرد، حرکتی که در صورت تداوم و قرار گرفتن در مسیر درست، می‌توانست در تعدیل و اصلاح رویکردهای تحویلیِ غالب مؤثر افتد و به ترمیم و تقویت رشته‌های مختلف دین‌پژوهی کمک کند. این تلاش اما، به دلیل خاستگاه و زمینه‌هایی که در مسیحیت و غرب مدرن داشت، در مسیری افتاد که مغایر با اغراض نخستینِ آن بود و بیش از افراز آن از مقولات نزدیک و برجسته‌سازی وجوه تمایز، به تعین‌زدایی از ادیان دامن ‌زد. ادامۀ این روند علاوه بر سلب عینیت از مطالعات دین، تمایزات مهم میان ادیان را هم نادیده می‌گیرد و به سست شدن و انقراض دانشی کمک می‌کند که خود از آن تغذیه کرده و اعتبار گرفته است. از نتایج دیگرِ ابرام بر ادامۀ این روند، تغییر در غایات بوده است و انتقال از موقعیت <em>شناختن دین‌</em> به نوعی از <em>ساختن دین</em>. </span> https://prrj.isu.ac.ir/article_78055_640105bca8a4f6a03586af718a3841a8.pdf
